About the Shingles Vaccine

Shingles, also known as Herpes Zoster, is a painful viral infection caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes Chickenpox. It typically presents as a painful rash or blisters on one side of the body or face and can sometimes lead to long-term nerve pain known as post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).

The risk of developing Shingles increases with age and is also higher in people with weakened immune systems.

At Earls Barton Pharmacy, we provide professional Shingles vaccination services to help protect eligible adults against Shingles and its complications. Our trained pharmacists will assess your medical history and confirm whether the vaccine is suitable for you.

The Shingles vaccine helps reduce the risk of developing Shingles and its complications, including long-lasting nerve pain (post-herpetic neuralgia). Although vaccination cannot guarantee complete protection, it can reduce the severity and duration of symptoms if Shingles does occur. Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to help protect against Herpes Zoster and its long-term complications.
