About Our Ear Infection Service
Ear infections and other ear-related conditions can be painful, uncomfortable, and disruptive to daily life. At Earls Barton Pharmacy, we provide professional advice, assessment, and treatment support for common ear problems affecting both adults and children.
Symptoms can vary depending on the cause but often include:
- Ear pain or discomfort, which may be mild or severe and can come on suddenly or gradually
- Reduced or muffled hearing, as if sounds are blocked or harder to hear than usual
- A blocked or full feeling in the ear, sometimes described as pressure or “popping”
- Fluid or discharge from the ear, which may be clear, yellow, or occasionally thicker
- Itching or irritation inside or around the ear canal
- Ringing sounds (tinnitus), such as buzzing, humming, or ringing noises
- Fever or feeling generally unwell, especially in children or more severe infections
- Dizziness or balance problems, which can happen if the inner ear is affected
Symptoms may affect one or both ears and can sometimes develop following a cold, sore throat, swimming, or water becoming trapped in the ear. Our pharmacy team can assess your symptoms, recommend appropriate treatment options, and advise whether further medical attention may be needed.
